Tomica Premium No.06 Ferrari Testarossa

Development of the Ferrari Testarossa is said to have begun in the early 1980s, when Maranello set out to create a sports car that would fix the faults of the Berlinetta Boxer. Issues included a cabin that got increasingly hot from the plumbing that ran between the front-mounted radiator and the mid-mounted engine and a lack of luggage space. In 1982, Pininfarina was commissioned to design a 12-cylinder Ferrari with side-mounted radiators, GT-level luggage space, and improved comfort. The finished product arrived two years later as the Testarossa, a car that quickly became an icon of 1980s retro culture.Mostly known for its side strakes and ultra-wide rear track, the car made numerous appearances in pop culture, most notably in the third season of Miami Vice and Sega’s arcade game OutRun. The Testarossa spawned posters that adorned childhood walls well into the 1990s.1

This model was release by Tomica in the last year. I was very happy and begin questioning myself why Tomica produce this model when Ferrari diecast license is exclusive. What? This mean only ONE company can hold the license to produce diecast replica. Before this, Mattel hold the license to produce the the diecast model such as Ferrari Racer series in 2008 before losing it to May Cheong Group, who produce Bburago and Maisto (This is the reason why Hot Wheels no longer produce Ferrari model :c ). I guess May Cheong Group probably sublicensed it to Tomica or probably the  Ferrari diecast license exclusive already gone (If so,hope Hot Wheels get back their Ferrari license.).
Back to the model, Tomica produce this in 2 colour thais is red and white. At first, I love the side strakes and ultra-wide back design on the car.The detailling on the car is great. The Ferrari badge, the Prancing Horse logo and other tampo is in the place. It also came with Tomica signature suspension. The wheel, however, is plastic however it is very detail. I love the brown dashboard colour is different with the beige interior colour which make this car look realistic. And here come to the most important element in this model car, the pop up headlights! The headlights can be operate by using lever under the base of the car. The headlight also have nice light tampo detail. I bought this model from wptnippon on Shoppe for RM 38/$9.They still have stock for this car at the time I write this article and what nice about this seller, they give you free clear protective case! I hope that Tomica produce other model in the future with workable pop up headlight like my favourite Toyota MR2.

The model with pop up headlight in open position. The level is on the front of the base of the car.

The packaging:
This model packaging come with box just like normal Tomica. Noted the new artwork design for Tomica premium series. Love the Ferrari hologram label sticker on the top of the box. :)
